Sentient Things, Inc. was founded by Robert Mawrey in 2017 to enable companies and individuals to more easily and rapidly create internet of things (IoT) products and projects. Having created multiple IoT products for customers as the CEO and a practicing engineer at his previous IoT startup, Robert realized that there was a common pattern to most IoT designs that is repeated over and over. This realization was the genesis of the Sentient Things IoT Node, a hardware platform that encapsulates the commonly repeated IoT hardware components, that allows for a flexible choice of microcontroller and communications module.
After a successful exit from ioBridge, Robert worked as an IoT principal at MathWorks, Inc. Prior to MathWorks and ioBridge, Robert was the CIO and SVP of American Tower Corporation. Robert has a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering and lives in Massachusetts.
